Aprendo l'allegato, però, la sorpresa non è affatto piacevole: l'apertura provoca infatti l'avvio di un software maligno, un trojan (cavallo di troia) per l'esattezza, che apre la strada a un altro software maligno (questa volta un dialer) che ha come unico scopo quello di sostituire il numero di telefono usato per la connessione a Internet con un numero a pagamento molto costoso. Va in ogno caso segnalato che questo tipo di malware (software maligno) produce danni soltanto agli utenti connessi alla rete attraverso un modem analogico.
Se ricevete una email di questo tipo, evitate assolutamente di aprire l'allegato e cancellatela; se avete solo visualizzato il messaggio senza toccare l'allegato non dovete preoccuparvi: per rendere effettivo il rischio è necessario aprire il file.
