Dal DV al DIVX con premiere6.5 e vidomi

Per avere un corretto realtime preview ed un premiere che funziona al meglio, ci sono delle regole da seguire, ve le trascrivo in inglese, ma sono quasi tutte semplici da tradurre:

Unistall Premiere 6, reboot your computer and then reinstall... you will be surprised by how often this can work.  (solo nel caso in cui abbiate dei problemi si intende)When plugging the firewire jack into your camcorder if you get a message to overwrite any system files, always select 'keep the most recent file' . If you accidently do otherwise then follow tip number one.Go to Control Panel > System, Click on the Device Manager tab and then click on Disk Drives. Click on each IDE drive, then click the settings tab and make sure DMA is enabled. In Premiere go to General project settings and click the 'playback settings' button. Disable 'playback to desktop' feature when you are ready to output to camera. If you are running Win98/ME then go to System Properties > Performance > Virtual Memory and select let me specify my own virtual memory settings, then set the minimum and maximum to 192, then reboot. After that if you get any low on system memory warnings then you need to up it more, up both in increments of 32. Make sure that your primary master drives are plugged into the end connector of their respective IDE cables. (I personally have not found any performance difference but according to most motherboard manuals it is so advised - I have found that if you only have one device on an IDE chain, the motherboard might not see your primary hard drive if it is not plugged into the end connector)Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card and motherboard. Make sure you flash your motherboard with the latest stable version BIOS (especially if you have an AMD cpu and motherboard, or any VIA chipset motherboard).... Check your motherboard manufacturer's site for latest BIOS. A note about flashing BIOS, if you have never done it before it can seem fairly involved, but it is not just follow the directions and it will only take a few minutes. If you have recently upgraded motherboards and did not reformat you hard drive and reinstall everything DO IT (trust me this is an absolute necessity if you want to avoid serious problems)... If you have a bunch of data on you drive and don't want to reformat, you can hook your drive to another computer (if possible, or if you have a dual boot system just boot to the other drive) where you can access your drive via the other computer's Windows Explorer - make sure that all files are displayed (go to Folder options and uncheck 'hide protected operating system files' and check 'show hidden files and folders' then delete Windows, Program Files, and all the stray OS files in the drive's root directoryTest your hard drive performance with HDtach and see if it matches the manufacturer's specs. If not and you have DMA enabled you might have a bad IDE cable (or one that your motherboard just does not like - this happened to me), buy one or 2 new ATA66 or ATA100 cables and install (ATA100 cables are not all that since ATA100 drives only have bursts that approach 100mb/s... a good 7200rpm drives can usually only maintain a data rate around 25-27mb/s).Go into the Bios (press delete key during startup). Click on Integrated Peripherals , Find HDD Block Mode and make sure it is enabled (it should be by default). If you have a VIA chipset (and a Nvidia video card) disable 4x agp in the BIOS and fast AGP writes. If you have 2 hard drives, run the program off one, and put all your footage and temp files on the other. If you add Mp3 tracks to the timeline make sure they are CBR (constant bit rate) nothing makes Premiere 6 stutter more the VBR (variable bit rate) Mp3s. If you are not sure if you Mp3 is CBR or VBR just play it with Winamp and if the bit rate jumps around it is VBR. If you must use VBR Mp3s follow tip #15 (but even then I don't think Adobe renders them down very well so stick to CBR or wavs). If you have multiple audio tracks export all your audio from the timeline to a DV audio avi file, then delete all your audio tracks and import the newly rendered DV audio track and place it on the timeline... (advisable to create a new copy of your project and delete the old audio tracks from there, that way you preserve your original project in case you need to change anything.) This method is the only one that finally allowed me to output flawlessly back to my camcorder using a Thunderbird 750/MSI pro2a(Via chipset)/256mb/2x7200rpm HD system.Defrag your hard drivesIf you only have a 5400rpm drive consider upgrading to 7200 rpm, if you only have one drive consider adding a second.Go to System Properties > Performance > File System > Hard disks and set you hard drives to 'Network Server'.Run SiSoft Sandra in Wizard mode - this is a good program (basic version is free) that checks your system for problems and gives you directions on how to fix them.I am still researching this but I have had problems with #x4 ram (this is the newest SDRAM design which is only compatible with some motherboards) causing video hiccups during firewire transfers... So for now I recommend only #x64 ram in sticks of 128mb or larger. You need 128mb or more to take advantage of memory interleaving which is kind of like RAID for ram.Upgrade to 256mb of ramGet a faster processor.(Revised) I thought there might be a problem with the VIA chipset. But today I tested a 750 TBIRD/Via/256mb system and a 800 P3/BX/128mb system and I played back a 17 minute test file (with 1 main audio track , and 2 CBR mp3 tracks) out to tape. I played the file twice on each system and the Tbird/Via system had one audio stutter on the first play thru and 2 on the second. The P3/Bx had 7 stutters on the first, and 3 on the second.
